Docu series ‘Indigenous Exchange’ peers into Sarawak, New Zealand cultures

MIRI, July 10: Culture Capital has launched a 16-episode documentary series titled ‘Indigenous Exchange’, which dives into the rich, diverse cultures of Sarawak, Central Polynesia, and Aotearoa, New Zealand.

Chief Executive Officer of Culture Capital, Azuar said this series highlights the essence of these regions through a variety of themes.

He emphasized the importance of preserving the rich tapestry of human heritage to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of diverse traditions.

“This will empower communities and ensure that the ancient wisdom of our ancestors continues to guide future generations,” he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, Executive Creative Director Koh Poh Leong said the program aims to celebrate and preserve the unique heritage of indigenous communities, ensuring their stories and traditions are shared with the world.

“With guidance from our cultural authorities, we believe that local cultural insights will accurately empower and add value to the local communities, and not be misrepresented.

“These values will be injected into each bespoke client campaign,” he explained.

The documentary series features insights from global cultural authorities, including Adrian Jo Milang, a Kayan Parap & Takna’ practitioner from Sarawak; Selina Roimata Patia, a community welfare leader and advisor from Rarotonga, Cook Islands; and Te Kerera “Kila” Haitana, Principal Advisor for the Maori Economy from Aotearoa, New Zealand, among others.

‘Indigenous Exchange’ can be viewed across various digital and social media platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.

Episodes one through five are available now on these platforms, while episode six will launch in August. – TVS
