DCCI & KCCI essential to Sarawak’s development

KUCHING, July 2: The Dayak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and the Kadazan Dusun Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) play a crucial role in contributing to Sarawak’s development and prosperity, said Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He added the DCCI is essential in promoting economic vitality and inclusiveness across Sarawak’s diverse communities.

“Through advocacy, support for entrepreneurship, and initiatives that encourage sectoral growth, DCCI greatly contributes to job creation, business innovation, and economic diversification,” he said.

He was speaking at the 15th Joint DCCI-KCCI Gawai Kaamatan 2024 dinner held in Imperial Hotel here on Tuesday.

Abang Johari also highlighted DCCI’s efforts in promoting sustainable practices, enhancing digital capabilities among businesses, and advocating for infrastructure improvements, which align closely with Sarawak’s vision for sustainable development.

“By championing these initiatives, DCCI not only drives economic progress but also strengthens our state’s social fabric, ensuring that development benefits are shared equitably among all Sarawakians,” he added.

This annual event celebrates the rich traditions and heritage of the Gawai and Kaamatan festivals, promoting unity and collaboration between the Dayak and Kadazan Dusun communities.

It also highlights strong cultural ties and business partnerships between the two chambers.

The two-day event, which began yesterday, also featured a Gawai-Kaamatan golf tournament on July 1st, with participants from both chambers of commerce.

Also in attendance were the Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas; Works Minister, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi; National Unity Minister, Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang; Minister of Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development Sarawak, Dato Sri Stephen Rundi Utom; DCCI President, Dato Allan Keripin; and KCCI President, Datuk Ladislaus Maluda. – TVS
