Memorial service honoring navy helicopter crash victims

KUCHING, April 25: The final farewell for Commander Muhamad Amir Mohamad, who tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash at the Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) base in Lumut, Perak, was solemnly held at the Islamic burial grounds of Felcra Bukit Kepong, Labis, Johor, on Wednesday evening.

Earlier, the hearse carrying the military personnel arrived at the Al-Muqorobbin Mosque in Felcra Bukit Kepong at around 10:45 PM for funeral prayers.

Accompanying the departure of the late fennec helicopter pilot (M502-6) of the Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) was his wife, Marliyati Basri, 40, along with their three children, Nuraina Farhana, 19, Nurlaila Shafiq, 13, and Muhamad Yusof, 4.

On the same night in Penang, more than a thousand mourners turned up to pay their last respects to Commander Muhammad Firdaus Ramli which was conducted at the Masjid Jamek Sungai Nibong Besar, Bayan Lepas.

The vehicle carrying the remains arrived at 7:41 PM with approximately 1,000 people, including family members, friends, and the public, waiting at the mosque since 5 pm to pay their final respects.

The funeral prayers were led by mosque imam Ustaz Harun Mahyudin after the maghrib prayers, before the flag-draped casket was carried by military honor guards to the burial ground following military burial rites.

Meanwhile, in Negeri Sembilan, a profound solemnity settled over the family home as the van transporting the cherished remains of Lieutenant Commander Mohamad Amirulfaris Mohamad Marzukhi made its arrival, marking the clock at precisely 9:05 PM on a sombre Wednesday evening.

The remains were then taken to the At-Taufiqiah Mosque in Taman Pinggiran Senawang at 9:30 PM for funeral prayers before being laid to rest at the burial ground.

Also present at the funeral prayers was the Chief Minister of Negeri Sembilan, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun. – TVS
