POZNAN, April 25: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has proposed a student exchange program between universities in Poland and Sarawak to enhance the bilateral relations between the two regions.

“In the spirit of friendship and cooperation, a student exchange program between universities in our regions will foster greater understanding among our peoples,” said Abang Johari during a dinner speech while thanking Marek Wozniak, the Marshal of the Wielkopolska Region.

Following his speech, Abang Johari extended an invitation to Wozniak to visit Sarawak.

He emphasized that the visit would extend beyond attending conferences, providing an opportunity to deepen understanding of Sarawak’s environmental goals.

Additionally, Abang Johari highlighted that Sarawak would soon be hosting significant global conferences, including the International World Water Congress and Exhibition slated for 2028.

Responding to the gesture, Marshal Wozniak expressed his gratitude for the warm invitation and reciprocated the appreciation by lauding the Premier for his participation in the forum.

Wozniak also took the opportunity to commend Sarawak’s green initiatives and its commitment to decarbonization.

He further noted that regions worldwide, including Sarawak, share Europe’s concerns about climate change and stressed the importance of collaborative efforts to mitigate its impact.

Previously, the Sarawak Premier was invited to participate as a panel speaker at the third Central Europe Hydrogen Forum.

The Sarawak delegation to Poland, led by Abang Johari, includes Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Malaysia’s Ambassador to Poland Dato’ Chitra Devi Ramiah, and the Chief Political Secretary to the Premier, Fazzaruddin Abdul Rahman.-TVS
