KUCHING, Apr 9: Kuching International Airport (KIA) becomes a hive of activity as Sarawakians return home for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
A check to the airport today saw holiday rush and heartwarming reunions of families.
For Rosni Abdillah, who has been living in the capital city Kuala Lumpur for over 35 years, her homecoming this time is a bittersweet affair following the passing of a family member.
“I am happy to be home, to see my brothers and sisters and to visit my late mother’s grave. She passed away recently on the 7th day of Ramadhan.
“Nonetheless, I am glad that all my family is here to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” she said to TVS.
Meanwhile, Bibi Farizona Mahdi – who also flew in from Kuala Lumpur – said that despite the bustling activity at the airport, her flight was not entirely full.
“Perhaps because a lot of people have return home much earlier, which made the flight more comfortable,” she said.
She added that she looks forward to spending time with her family during the celebration.
Meanwhile, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) announced that the final flight into Kuching today would arrive at 3:00 AM from Johor Bahru. -TVS
