SEMATAN, Apr 5: The Sarawak Civil Defence Force (APM) Beach Rescue Team today discovered the carcass of a whale stranded on the coast of Telok Melano Beach near here.
APM Telok Melano Beach Rescue Team personnel Zulfika Atan said the mammal carcass was found at around 12:20 noon during a routine patrol in the area.
“The Telok Melano Beach Rescue Team members have reported to the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) for further details regarding the discovery of the carcass,” he said when contacted.
Zulfika added that SFC would first examine the discovery of the whale carcass before providing more details.
He also said that this whale stranding was not the first that had been reported — previous strandings have been sighted.-TVS
