KUCHING, Feb 27: Sarawak has the solutions to mitigate climate change and global warming crisis, but the effort requires a substantial financial backing.
Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni said Sarawakâs foray into renewable energy (RE) was a direct response to climate change and global warming.
âSarawak has the solution to mitigate climate change, at least for this part of the world, because we have both the natural-based solution and also the technical-based solution
âI must emphasize the pivotal role of the financing sector in translating our objectives into reality,â he said in his closing remarks at the Borneo Energy Transition Conference (BETC) 2024, today.
At the ceremony, Dr Hazland also stressed the importance of collaboration as key that drives the economic growth and noted that the industry will be a new area of revenue for both the people and the Sarawak government.
âThe consensus reached among delegates underscores our shared determination to push the boundaries of sustainable energy.
âThe resolutions forged here will serve as a benchmark for future endeavors, shaping a brighter, more sustainable future,â he added.
The two-day BTEC 2024 event is co-organised by SEDC Energy and Marc Ratings Bhd. -TVS
