KUCHING, Feb 27: Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad aspires to become a premier green energy port, to spearhead the nation in the state’s vision of green and clean energy.
Group Chief Executive Officer of Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad, Ruslan Abdul Ghani said this serves to quench the thirst of the world for green energy in the years to come.
“We want to realise the vision of our Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg in making Sarawak an economic powerhouse.
“To achieve this vision, we need to have a strong infrastructure, especially in an efficient and well operated port,” he said in his speech during the Bintulu Port Media Appreciation Night 2024 on Tuesday.
In addition, Ghani added that Bintulu Port is the flag bearer of Sarawak ports and is home to the largest Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) export terminal in East Asia.
“Bintulu Ports, has the biggest container terminal in East Malaysia, larger than all of the containers handled by the total eight Sabah ports combined.
“We not only bear the export outlet of palm oil products for Sarawak, accounting to 95% of Sarawak export at around 4mil ton/pa but also ranked 3rd in the whole of Malaysia at around 50mil ton/PA in term of tonnage,” he added.
For records, it is estimated that Bintulu Port and Samalaju Port combined would handle in the region of nearly half a trillion Ringgit/PA worth of products.
Also present at the ceremony was Sarawak State Government Secretary Datuk Amar Mohammad Marzuki who is also Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad Chairman and Director of Department of Information Malaysia Sarawak Helmi Hamid. -TVS
