PUTRAJAYA, AUGUST 28: OPS SAMAR – an operation undertaken by, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPNDHEP) to monitor the activity of business premises activated under different phases of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

The operation was carried out from August 22 to August 27 and have issued 20 compounds, equivalent to RM107,000.

“We have deployed a total of 2,200 officers throughout the country – disguised in normal clothes to avoid detection and to ensure all business premises are adhering the stipulated SOPs,”

“From the operation, we have identified about 98.74 per cent business premises practicing the SOPs while only 0.08 per cent were fined,”

This was a statement made by the KPDNHEP Deputy Director of Enforcements (Operations), Shamsul Nizam Khalil in its official media statement.

He added such operation was needed so that the business sector does not cause a spike of COVID-19 infections.

At the same time, Shamsul also said a total of 859 compounds have been issued throughout the country.

Since the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) last year, the total amount of all compounds staggered at RM4.5 million.

“We will continue to enforce strict measures to remind not only the business owners, but to customers as well. These fines, its not funny business. We will enforce it, if anyone is caught violating the SOP,” added Shamsul.
